Season 2 of the NXT Entrepreneur podcast sat down with Rigsby this month to talk about his entrepreneurial journey and what inspires him. Watch the in-studio interview on YouTube (below) or you can listen to it on any of the major platforms.
“You’re about to meet an artist who takes some of the Earth’s most unyielding materials and turns them into amazing things - proving that too is an art unto itself.”
“I don’t believe in starving artists. You have all these creative people who can’t run a business and all these businesspeople who aren’t creative. And I’m not doing anything special. I’m just using both sides of my brain.”
“I’ll never forget being at a hair show at the Waldorf Astoria, and Rigsby was the first to recognize that what we were doing in Baton Rouge was just as creative as what we were watching happen on stage [in New York].”
“There are five pieces by internationally known Baton Rouge stylist and artist Rigsby Frederick. One - “Shaman’s Totem” - is prominent on the north walkway of the resort. The 15-foot high sculpture is distinguished by the Shaman’s horns at the top.”
“For men, it is just in style to have a style, and that hasn’t always been the case. Men simply care more now, so you’re seeing a real tapered and groomed look. A little bit of the 1940s and ’50s with the fades, but there are lots of different cuts happening.”
